For many in the United States, physical exertion tends to be low, largely due to our sedimentary lifestyles. People commute via car from suburban areas outside of the urban area they work in, rather than walk and use public transportation. Many other daily tasks involve less walking than ever before. This may be one factor for our high obesity rates.
